Rate your own Database entries?

Hello from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

We have created a Database activity to track nominations for student award nominations. The form is very simple: Name, reason for nomination. Students in the course then vote on the nominees by rating them using the Rating feature of the Database activity.

This seems like a decent setup, but here's the problem: Students cannot rate their own entries. This means that you cannot actually vote for the student that you nominated.

I have checked the Database permissions and cannot find a way to enable this. Is it nevertheless possible to allow students to rate their own Database entries?

Hi Aaron,

I don't think any role can rate their own entries in Database, neither in Glossary, nor in Forum.

That's Political correctness.

You may have to add ##user## tag into your views to show who is the nominator.

I'm not sure what's political correctness about that. Obviously there are relevant use cases where we would like users to rate their own entries. That is why it is possible to rate own entries in the Dataform. smile
