Let me introduce you a new tool, I think there is no other tool like this, to check Moodle sites status and uptime (from 1.x to 3.0) and send you a warning if your Moodle site is down.
I know there are a lot of uptime monitoring tools (free and paid) to check our servers and apps, but this one is a free one designed to check Moodle based sites and given to all Moodle community as a Christmas gift !
It´s crystal clear that all of us, technicians, managers and teachers (not just the admins) need to know if something wrong happens to our moodle site. Most of times, the first ones to notice when your moodle site is down are your users, and then here comes the complains, boss calls and the shame for be the last one to notice it.
Through this monitoring service, called TOODLE -Tools for Moodle- (http://toodle.org), we can check with a robot in time intervals the uptime of our moodle site, is like to have a sysadmin 24/7 working for free. If http://toodle.org detects something wrong with your moodle site you will be emailed with issue details, including a printscreen of your site.
These are the main features of http://toodle.org:
- Checks your moodle site each defined time interval
- Warning messages emailed to you (Moodle site down)
- Error description and issue printscreen.
- Monthly uptime reports with downtimes, length, time and days of the week. A very useful review to write your report or to ask for a refund to your Moodle Hosting Provider.

Right now toodle.org is beta, but if many people use it and let us know their comments, we will improve this tool (maybe traduction...).
Tools for Moodle is for free, user friendly and without spam. In the future we hope to add new features, like new questions type, a videochat plugin and reporting tools. For now, we can use the uptime monitoring tool and be the first to know if something bad happens !
