I feel the same with the 2.9 to 3.0 jump, Do I need it...No, Do I want it....Yes, Am I going to upgrade tomorrow....Not as long as 2.9 plugins work.
It took me over a month to get my SCORM packages working on 2.9 so 3.0 can wait.
