I tried to upload a 1MB gift file, but I got a "database error".
I rose the max allowed packet size of mariadb to 256MB, but it changed nothing.
Does anyone know what to do?
This can occur, so I understand if I recall it right, if there was something in the Gift format that is not right, out of place or unexpected close or open but no close or some such. Can also occur if there is duplicate questions, or duplicated question numbers. Well, it was with MySQL and as Mariadb is based on MySQL then I expect the same would apply. Check your file, to make sure everything is in the right place. Also, I would think that it is possible that files downloaded from one version of Moodle may not restore if the gap between use is too great, say a v2.3 to a v2.9 might have an unexpected error.
