Scientific notation in Calculated multichoice question

I am a newbie to this forum …
I wanted to add a question to a quiz (Calculated multichoice question) using Moodle v. 2.91. Since the calculated values are going to produce large numbers such as: xxxxxx.xx and I wanted them to display as x.xxExx. Unfortunately, I could not find a simple and direct method.
As a move around the problem I used the following technique:
First I have estimated no. of digits that I expect. Then I divided by a 1 + 0000 ... and added E(no. of digits) at the end.
Example: If I expect 123008.45 (to result from some calculation)
Then I do it like this: {={variables}/10000}E5
Displayed value will look like: 1.23E5
I wonder: is this the best method we can do?
