I got an email today which referred to "Brightspace" the D2L product. Some interesting claims.
Led me to some more comments on the D2L home page. [warning: extreme marketing hype following]
Brightspace:
#1 for Innovation
#1 for Student Performance and Retention
#1 for Customer Engagement
#1 for Accessibility
#1 for Ongoing Training and Support Services
Interesting. They refer to an Ovum report on OLP's as being the source of this data, released several days ago. (being an ex-science teacher this term has other meanings for me)
I then have two choices. from http://www.brightspace.com/
- Read the D2L summary of the report. (For which I have to sign up for)
- Go to Ovum page and get it (for which I have to sign up for)
http://www.ovum.com/research/ovum-decision-matrix-selecting-an-online-learning-platform-for-higher-education-2015-16/
I don't need another signup.
I do not know the CC BY or otherwise status of the report, but if it was available elsewhere online I'd be interested.
I think this is one of the Laws of "How To Promote an OLP":
Find some research (any 'research') that supports your cause. Promote it heavily on your website.
