I've been making multiple choice quiz using the Poodll function to only play audio once. So students have to match audio in the question to an audio file in the list of answers. When I preview the question it works fine (see first image).
However when students do the quiz the audio file does not appear in the question. Just in the answers (see second image). If I take it off the play only once function it does appear but ideally students should listen only once. Any ideas how to fix this?
Oh. Thats odd. Sorry for the delay in replying. I just checked this. its a bug.
For now use this workaround. It is a bit weird.
- add an html block to the quiz page
(ie on the quiz page, turn editing on, add an html block)
- Configure the html block, and in the html area add any PoodLL filter string. Probably you don't want to show anything at all, so set the width and height to 1. Maybe just use this one:
- Save and reload the quiz page. All the once players should load.
Thanks for this. It seems to work okay now but I have noticed there are some limitations with the play once function. Basically, sometimes the audio sometimes fails to load - especially when using smartphones which occurs to me consistently on my Iphone using Safari, but it has also happened occasionally using a laptop too. This is a shame as it is a very handy tool for us language teachers.
If you improve it the future please let me know so I can try it out.
Hi Justin, as I'm interestested in this function I wanted to know if you've been able to fix the bug and especially if you have managed to create a HTML5 "only once" player - it would be incredibly useful for teachers who have to prepare exam related materials. Thank you!
