I downloaded your copy of file manager for 1.8 and it works. However, I get the following view when using the block.
I have a question about a possible issue with administration of this block on a system with many users (1000+). If we have students graduating and no longer using our site how can we erase any files that they may have left on the system? I don't see any way to access or even view items that have been uploaded by students. I forsee having students use this feature as it will be a very convenient way for them to save Word files etc. and then never clear out their files which may put us in a tight situation as far as hard drive space goes...sometime down the road.
Any sugesstions on what to try next?
This bug is similar to one I fixed to make myfiles apear on 1.8. Have you tried my patched version?
To get it working,
- I placed the folder from this patched version in the blocks folder in my moodle installation.
- I added the language file from the older My Files downloaded from the Modules page.
So far, it seems to be working alright. And I find it fairly simple and straightforward to quickly add a user file for safekeeping- just add a link and upload a file.
Very valuable block!
In my environmnent:
My students have several assignments to upload, and they often upload the wrong assignment in the wrong place, deleting the correct assignment. With My Files, they now have a place to keep work in case this happens.
For now, I am still testing out My Files. But I may try it out in the classroom environment soon.
Thanks for the work put it on this block!
It would seem and Paul Andrews are partially responsible for this version that works with 1.8. Lukasz sent me a message asking if I'd tried his patch. A patch? What patch? I finally did find it. Thank you, Lukasz!
I'd like to see it up to date in the cvs, and in the moodle module pages. But I am not sure the author is actively working on it. So, how to proceed?
But realy I've made only simple work around to make it apear in 1.8.
Maybe Paul have tried it a little bit more.
I have installed the latest version of file manager.
Everything was okie, however i was unable to share the files with my course students. Wondering if anyone can assist me?
Thank you so much for any help rendered.
I gave up on the file manager block and went to DSpace with RADIUS authentication instead...
I have installed your block on 1.8 but before i installed a non working version. Now when i install i get various errors about tables already created. I have solved these by dropping the tables in mysql. However i have 3 errors regarding duplicate entries for fmanager-add, update and view for key 2
its alright, ignore that...ive found how to delete the rows in edit table data
block works now!
