I have been able to connect and to login to my moodle site using the Mobile Moodle application. However, I have an URL activity that links to an external website (actually a website running on the same server as moodle but under a different directory). The url is linked in two ways one is an image using the activity ID and the other is via the activity or type URL. When I click the image I am redirected to the Login Page, however when I click the Activity it works as expected, i.e, the activity page opens with the url link. I want to track user completion of the activity hence this link is to the activity ID on the image is necessary. Any suggestions?
I can't seem to understand exactly what you're trying to accomplish.
As far as I understand, you have an URL resource in your Moodle. As an example, let's say that this activity points to www.google.com. If you use MM app to navigate to that resource and open it, a system browser will be opened with www.google.com.
I guess you also added an image with an URL of the kind: "http://mymoodle.net/mod/url/view.php?id=4". If you click that image in the app you see the Moodle login form and, after authenticating, you end up in the Moodle URL page where there's a link to www.google.com.
What do you want to achieve? Do you want that clicking the image opens www.google.com directly? Or do you want that opening the URL resource sends you to the Moodle URL page like the image do?
If you want that opening the Moodle URL resource in the app (open directly www.google.com) is recorded in the Moodle logs and the activity completion, then you should install the Moodle Mobile Additional Features plugin. If you have that plugin installed, then opening that URL using the app should have the same behavior as opening in Moodle web: a log entry will be added and the URL should be marked as completed if it's configured as "Student must view this activity to complete it".
Thank you for the reply. So there are two access points to the activity, one is by clicking the image, the other is by clicking the activity link. Most will use the image. When either is clicked I want a pop-up window (I know how to do this) to display. At the moment clicking the image does not work, i.e,. redirects me to the login, whereas clicking the text based link to the url does.
I guess I should have mentioned this but I assumed this was base functionality with the test theme (Essentials) I am using. I.e., the Moodle Mobile Additional Features plugin appears to be there and fails if I try to install it. There is a big warning not to use the theme in production but this is NOT a production system, yet.
can you please send me a test account via private message so I can see what you have? This way I'll understand better your problem and what you're trying to achieve.
