As a heads up, MDL-50869 will be coming your way very soon. It addresses an issue first posed here: https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=316936 - whereby the 'warning' text is not accessible. So if you are in a position for when the stable branches update next week then it would be a good opportunity to do so even within branch.
I've already patched Essential for M2.8 and 2.9. Shoehorn is not affected as it is a BS3 theme. Shoelace for M2.9 is done but not in M2.8.
