Hi
I am trying to upgrade from 2.8.3 to 2.9.1

I was having some issues so i

1 - Setup new fresh installation of 2.9.1

2 - Exported entire data of 2.8.3

3 - Imported Data Only via Workbench to 2.9.1

Now i can see the courses and everything is imported successfully to 2.91

but i as admin or users cannot login to the system ?

How can i fix this issue

thanks

Did you start with a new config.php file?  If so, did the old one have a password salt set?

What did you do with the moodledata folder?

moodle data folder has been shifted to new server exactly as it was in 2.8.3 server

but something happens in the last few minutes of data transfer where it restrict access to all users

Looks to me like you've done a mix of https://docs.moodle.org/29/en/Upgrading and https://docs.moodle.org/28/en/Moodle_migration. If you know system well, you can try to repair, for example by correcting the permissions of moodledata. Otherwise, make your mind which one you want to do and follow those instructions. BTW, these things depend on the operating system. What is yours?

I just noticed another thing

OS Windows Server 2012 both new and old

I migrated moodle files of 2.8.3 to new machine

Then using Workbench Wizard migrated 2.8.3 Database to new server

Copied moodle Data folder to now machine with same permissions

and same problem

i cannot login

even users cannot login

really strange?

any clue?

SOLVED smile

TIPS

Never trust on Data Migration Wizard of MySql Workbench

Never try to manually transfer moodle database by copying files from data folder of mysql

Drop preexisting scheme of moodle if appearing

Don’t create a scheme and then import

Select .sql data file and import without creating a scheme, let it create it itself and then dump data in it

Hi

I am glad that you could solve it on your own. I know next to nothing about Windows and wouldn't have joined if I knew that this is a Windows issue. BTW, most of the complications you mention are non-existent in the Unix CLI world.
