Apologies that I am completely missing the point here with something that should be so straightforward.
I have what I thought was a very simple requirement. A simple, small course with 3 topic sections and a set of activities with learning material in each section, and then a 4th topic section with one single quiz to assess how the student has done.
Following the quiz, assuming the student has passed, I would like to produce a certificate showing their pass grade/mark, so if >90% it would be "Distinction (92%)" or something similar, if >80% "Merit (86%)", and if >70% then it would be "Pass (74%)". I have completion tracking on, but really this is just to create the dependency between passing the quiz and being able to produce the certificate. So I only have one activity where a mark/grade needs to be calculated, and that single grade determines the outcome of the course.
How do you set this up? I'm falling at the first hurdle. I have tried adding the quiz and tried to set the 'grade to pass' to 70, but I just get this error:
"The grade to pass can not be greater than the maximum possible grade 10"
- Where is this maximum specified and can it be adjusted ?
- For such a simple set up, do I have to worry about grade categories, grade items, or anything to do with the grade book?
- Can someone give me a quick step by step guide to doing this? I have looked at moodle docs, and done some forum searches, and looked for stuff on youtube to help with this, but to no avail - although that might be my poor search criteria.
Any help much appreciated.
