The BCU-theme ist amazing and very good maintained so i want to use it as a starter theme for my custom theme. I wonder, if it is possible to use the styles of the bootswatch theme "sandstone"? That would be great because it's the look i want to have. Do you know, how to accomplish this?

Tricky as BCU is a child of Bootstrapbase which is BS2.3.2 and that is a BS3 bootswatch.  Would work better with Bootstrap (theme), Elegance or Shoehorn.

Thank you Gareth, I see – so we stick to the BCU Theme thanks to its deliberate features. Since we will customize BCU, one question emerges: what's the recommended way to customize in order to benefit from updates of BCU? I could not find an example of using BCU as an parent theme in the www. Any hints?
