Is there any news of where are we at with Forum development in Moodle for 3.0?
It’s dropped off the roadmap. Even some good patches for 2.9 were not progressed, e.g. MDL-372 from 2003. Good to see success for https://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MDL-19670 (post once to all groups in a forum)
I know there are infrastructure issues (I had to Google ARIA for instance). What I don’t know (and maybe no-one does) is the time and effort needed to implement this sort of developmen.
Could “Update mod-forum” be given some coding time
Maybe the re-write/enhancement activities here could provide new hooks, calls and renderers (etc. – insert the correct terms), e.g. an offshoot (and by-product) of some coding helps Moodle, while we are improving a core component like the forum?
If I was to say two of the key things that give most value, I'd go for
- Edit in place
- Better forum reporting
