Help with the config file

Hello,

I get this error when I try to install moodle 2.8.5:

Fatal error: $CFG->dataroot is not configured properly, directory does not exist or is not accessible! Exiting.

However, my config files says:

$CFG->dataroot  = '/hermes/waloraweb070/b2209/moodledata';

And the folder is writeable!

What might be causing this?

When I try the automatic install it says:

Parent directory (/hermes/waloraweb070/b2209) is not writeable. Data directory (/hermes/waloraweb070/b2209/moodledata) cannot be created by the installer.

My server's support says that the folder is writeable

Is there anything that I'm not seeing here?

It probably isn't writeable by the web user.  Create the folder manually first, check its permissions and then run the installer again and see if that helps.
