Email account for "Reply to forum via email" feature

We are currently looking into setting up the forthcoming Moodle 2.8 installations with 'Reply to forum via email' feature. Does anybody know whether we can use the same email account to be used/accessed by our different Moodle installations?

Would this create conflicts between such installations? Or does the unique plus addressing 'Reply to' email address have an identifier respective to a specific Moodle installation?

Thanks!

Hi Chris,

It does need to be a unique e-mail account for each Moodle instance.

Each e-mail address should be pretty unique, but we can't tell whether the address belongs to this Moodle or another.

When the pickup task runs, it reads each e-mail in the Inbox. It marks it as read, stars it, an then processes it. If it does not validate (wrong address, wrong token, unknown id, etc.) then it is moved to a different mailbox and the user may be informed.

This process will render each message unavailable for another site.

There is no way around this limitation.

Hope this helps,

Andrew
