Interested in your comments that you are evaluating Moodle and commercial Learning content Management systems (LCMS) do you mind me asking which LCMS you have been evaluating and which other Learning Management Systems (LMS) you have evaluated and how you found the interface between them?
Please do not hesitate to contact me for further infromation

The list is too long to cover here but I have focussed on those that are appropriate for a business environment - so haven't included those that have an interface which is too education orientated (e.g. gradebooks, assignments, tutorials etc.). The budget is also important (approx £10k Sterling). Moodle is still in my shortlist though it is the odd one out. I really like Moodle's approach but I need to make sure that it will work for my client - thus the question about classroom event support.
Are you a Moodle expert or just interested in LMS/LCMS generally?
Neither John, Harvestroad offer HarvestRoad Hive® a federated digital repository, recently we joined Moodle Partners to offer a best of breed approach between open source solutions and commercial of the shelf product. If you feel your client would be interested in; reusable objects, version control, workflow control, copyright control etc, you can either contact me directly on +61 405 499 607
If it is not a graded event, you can just put it in the calendar, and if you need something in the course outline, refer to it as a label. A non-graded assignment would also work for this.
If the above doesn't make fit your need, perhaps more detail about what you mean by 'classroom' event would help, there are number of optional modules that may serve your need.
Thanks for that - I will try your suggestions.
The 'classroom' event is a standard face-to-face presentation or lecture and forms an integral part of the learning programme. Since this is a commercial client (rather than an educational establishment) the programme is very short comprising typically:
A pre-course activity (e.g. analysis of some workplace issue)
The classroom event (normally a single day - sometimes two days)
Some post course activity and discusion (action learning set).
Moodle will also provide a space to upload supporting materials (e.g. the PowerPoints from the classroom event plus handouts etc.)
Is this how you interpreted 'classroom' event?
