Hi,

i am unable to add restrict access to the courses, when we apply the restrict access rules and click "Save and Return" it is not saving.

What could be the issue?

Help needed.

Is it just for a specific activity/resource type or any activity?  What version of Moodle?  Is it enabled at the admin level? Do the settings actually vanish when you go back to the activity settings?  Or is it just not behaving as expected (in which case, have you tested it as a student?)

It could be a lot of things - caching problem/permissions/database problem...I would start by clearing all caches and see if maybe it is saving but the page is just not refreshing correctly.

Hi Emma,

Thanks for the response.

its specific to activity/resource type, i can set the restrict rules at the topic level.

we have migrated from 1.9. to 2.0 and then to 2.7.1

At Admin level settings are enabled.

Yes, the settings vanishes when we to back to activity settings.

also checked as the student, it doesn't work. tested by clearing the cache as well, it doesn't work, but works for topics not for activity/resource.

If you change other settings in the activities, will they save?  Try turning debugging on and then see if there is an error when you click on Save. Are you sure that you are filling out every required area (e.g. do you have a description for the activity?)?

When you click on Save, are you directed to a new page or do you stay on the same page?

Have you tried clearing your cache?  I wonder if this isn't a caching issue.

Can you post screen shots of the settings that are trying to set? Also check permissions on the activity itself and make sure they look correct. It has to be something simple..I think!
