Clean theme: too long category picker

I've recently updated some Moodle installs to 2.8.3+ and have identified that the categorypicker element may get too long, causing an horizontal scroll and also it may get behind the blocks on the right side.

Setting width: 100%; for the singleselect inside the categorypicker solves the problem for the select element, but when you click on it to see the options, they are too long yet and you don't have an horizontal scroll so you can't read the full names.

I've attached an example screenshot.

Any ideas?
