We are also interested in developing some departmental themes (which could be very similar or the same as course category themes). Now that we have figured out how to deal with the inherited logo problem, we can move forward on developing those themes! But it will be strictly voluntary. We will name the theme "something_department_theme" and those instructors may choose it or not.
