In setting up a course, I accidentally deleted the 'People' section on the upper left hand side of the page. This is the section that allows to view/edit the various participants and students on the course.
How do I get it back?

Turn editing on using the button towards the top right of the course page. At the bottom of the column of blocks on the right of the course page you will see a block entitled "Blocks". Select the deleted block from those shown in the drop down menu. You'll need to reposition it using the arrows in the header to get it back to its original position.
Just a thought, if it's visible when viewing as a teacher but not as a student (with editing turned on) click on the eye icon in the People block header to make it visible to all.
