i try to edit my profile and upload a picture but a "JPEG not supported on this server" message was displayed. i have installed php with the following:
./configure --with-pgsql --with-apxs=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs --with-gd --with-jpeg --with-zlib
any help is highly appreciated

It may not be a server problem.
It may be the way in which the JPEG file was formatted by the program which created it.
I suggest you test another JPEG file.

when i try the following, it works:
