Where/how do I find the clock? Is it in a theme?

Hi,

My fuzzy eyes have been reading and romping through the Moodle site, as well as the Moodle Themes site, and Users sites.

I notice several of them have a clock on the main page in the right hand colum.  I've done a search here with no results for "clock".

Any suggestions on how/where to find it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

Betty

Look for the analog clock somewhere on this page.

There is a 1.4 version and a 1.5 version. Make sure you pick the right one for your site.

Installation is the same as with every block. These instructions are for the 1.5 version:

  1. Place the directory blocks/time/ inside the directory moodle/blocks/

  2. Copy the file lang/en/block_time.php to the directory moodle/lang/en/

  3. Visit the admin page of your moodle site for the changes to take effect

  4. The block should now show up in the dropdown menu when you have editing turned on in a course

One thing I just noticed in the instructions on item #2:

Copy the file lang/en/block_time.php to the directory moodle/lang/en/

I am using the en_us language pack.  Can I put the block_time.php in the lang/en_us directory instead?

Thank You,

Betty

Hi Betty,

The en language file must go in the en language pack, as that is the base from which all other language packs are translated. Then you can translate it to any other language (or English variety in your case). In en_us of course there might be little or nothing to change in a small language file (the main difference is in how to spell the word "enrol/enroll" it seems). If a file is missing from a language pack then it is taken from the default en pack.

Hope this helps, smile
Tim.

Hi Tim,

Thank you for the information big grin .  I don't think the differences in the clock language file will matter in this case since I doubt that enroll and color will be used on the clock face.

Thank you for your time and the answer I needed,

Betty
