If the server one is hosting one's Moodle on has the incorrect time, and is running slow by 8 minutes, is it reasonable for the host to say that they won't fix the problem because it is a shared server and will affect others? Shouldn't they instead be concerned about how the incorrect time can be affecting all of the installations? I just wonder whether my request was a reasonable one or whether they are being reasonable in denying it.
"I just wonder whether my request was a reasonable one or whether they are being reasonable in denying it."IMHO, they are being unreasonable in denying your request. It does not take much to set up a script to synchronize the server to an official time server. They are all over the world and free to access. Like a crontab, it is set and forgotten.
Just my 2 cents.
Absolutely, Nicole,-you are reasonable this time indeed.
Well, it seems my ticket was passed on to someone else at the hosting company who understood that they needed to fix it. They've now corrected it and have installed something that will keep it in synch from here on out.
