The problem was not with the technology, it was between the keyboard and the chair.

Hi Marcus

I know that standard answer. In this case though it's an oversimplification.

- We are talking of Ross William Ulbricht aka Dread Pirate Roberts , who allegedly ran the on-line black market http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silk_Road_%28marketplace%29 in exchange of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitcoins. If a person with such skills makes blunders, what about the normal mortals?

Or to put it another way, is technology perfect, to err is human?

- OK, he made blunders, but they became apparent in connection with weaknesses in technology. Did you read, "1. Bitcoin: If you assume your bitcoins can’t be traced back to you, think again. Like cash, bitcoins aren’t tied to a person’s identity. But unlike cash, a detailed public ledger called the blockchain keeps track of each wallet a bitcoin passes through. This case showed that all law enforcement needs to do is locate the wallets on each side of a transaction and follow the money." in http://www.itworld.com/article/2881775/four-technologies-that-betrayed-silk-roads-anonymity.html ?
