Is It Possible To Do More Than Just Courses and Exams with Moodle?

Is it possible to use Moodle to allow students to do something other than review courses, take exams, etc?

For example, one part of my site will allow students to set goals.  In order to do this, they must set an overall goal, then determine how to reach this goal.  They will then set up numerous sub-goals (with even more under these - as many goals, sub-goals, and levels of goals as necessary) to help them reach their main overall goal.

Is it possible to set this up in a way in which they could come back periodically and review the goals they previously set?  They will need to check off completed goals, review and update future goals, make notes about previously achieved goals, etc.  This will not require a time frame in which to work, nor exams, grading, or many other things associated with normal coursework/ Moodle.

This is just one of a number of things of this nature that I can see as being beneficial to my students, so this would be a great feature to have for my site.

If you need any more information, please feel free to ask.  I'm typing this at 11:30 at night, so I'm pretty sure I'm leaving out vital information.  Thanks for any help that you may be able to offer!

Hello,

there is https://docs.moodle.org/28/en/Course_completion

But the conditions is fot the course to complete, not user specific, and the teacher is the person who usually do this although you can give the permissions to students to do this.

There is also https://docs.moodle.org/28/en/Rubrics

But again, it is kind of thing the teacher may for stablish for activities, although you can give the permissions to students to do this, you would end up having to create one activity for each user

A non standard approach is https://moodle.org/plugins/view.php?plugin=block_xp

That adds points, levels and rankings. Again, this is all configured by the teacher, for the entire course,

Finally, maybe you could think about kanban (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kanban) with https://taiga.io/ that is a far better tool/approach to track projects than use moodle =)

Just some ideas, hope you like =)

Kind regards,

Daniel

That is a lot of information!  Thank you!

I will be sure to check out everything mentioned, and thanks for the hint on the Taiga software.  I'll check that out, as well.
