Under admin there are front page settings for authenticated / non authenticated users.

Some themes have additional settings which follow this pattern but dont know if essential is one of them.

That said side blocks are not usually affected by the above and many will not show much or anything for a non authenticaded user.

Front pages settings do no work for the blocks -- for each block on your home page, you have to (with Editing Turned on)

1. Click on the cog of each block.

2. Choose "Assign Roles in this block"

3. Go back to the block and click on Permissions.

4. Find the permission "moodle/block:view" and add or remove "Guest" to allow or disallow guests from seeing the block when they are not logged into the site. Allow "Authenticated Users" to allow all users (who are logged in) to see the block.

Repeat with each block on your home page.

I finally found out how to edit the homepage blocks. Its quite easy and straight forward but I did not write things down when I first did it so, became confusing as to how I did it first time.

Here it goes

Site Administration > Appearance > Default my homepage > Navigation > Site home

Then you can edit existing blocks or add a new one.
