Difficulty in finding actual location of database

I am trying to find the actual location of moodle database but i am not able to get where records get inserted.

please suggest me the location or path where data stores.

I need to disable certain plugins . Can you help me find the database with config_plugins and guide me how to proceed, to disable a plugin? (I am using moodle 2.9)

Please give me  more information about set_config() function.

I am the site admin and I have access to the files on the server.

What about the "admin-way" of disabling or uninstalling plugins?
