I had a professor doing "some moving around" in her Moodle course yesterday. She was dragging a topic into a new position, and when she released "everything disappeared". What I've found: in the course, all but two topics become invisible (not hidden, just gone) and she completely lost the navigation and administration blocks.
I was able to uncover the topics but simply clicking the down-ward arrows in the previous topic (as I did, each topic below was revealed). I haven't been successful in restoring the admin or nav block in the course. I tried to create a new course, and import all of the content; import was successful, but the new course looks exactly like the old (missing blocks, nav and admin).
I followed directions from a post suggesting I could get to the blocks via URL and unhide them, but even with the direct link, I don't see the admin or nav blocks at all.
We're running Moodle 2.8. I checked the user's other courses, and it looks like it's just this course. Administration and Navigation blocks are visible in all other courses.
I've double checked that the blocks are not docked. I can see the "Turn Editing On" button on left, but turning it on or off doesn't reveal any blocks (or even the "add a block" option). I've attached a screen shot. You'll see there's NOTHING in the left-margin (I'm not familiar with how the professor had this course set up, and it's highly likely she also had blocks for activity, logged in users, etc).
I'm baffled. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
