United States government assessment software is now open source

The K-12 schools in the US are switching to new government tests, which are mostly on the computer. Each state gets to choose how to test their students, but many have chosen the company Smarter Balance to run the tests. They just released their assessment package as open source http://www.smarterapp.org/source.html

They have some interesting question types, have a way for teachers to start and stop exams, a method to forward certain items for human scoring, and a secure browser.

I thought I would share as their system might be of interest to Moodlers.
