Instructors who have long courses have often requested a "floating" "Enable Editing" button.
The problem is that as an instructor when you are viewing a course, you decide AHA! I'd like to add XYZ to the current section. Unfortunately to do so, you must scroll ALL THE WAY to the top of the page, then click "Turn Editing On", then scroll all the way back to the section you were just viewing. If you have a long page this can take some time and finesse.
If there was a way to streamline this process I think people would love it. Possible solutions include:
1. A keyboard shortcut to toggle editing. Clicking the keyboard shortcut would turn editing on and return you to the section you were currently viewing upon page load.
2. A separate button in each section to toggle editing. This button would perform the same function as the keyboard shortcut.
3. A floating edit button. ( I'm personally not a fan of this option, for various reasons ).
4. Options 1 & 2.
I'm aware that a course can be configured to show only the current section, however most instructors I've talked to prefer showing the entire course on a single page.
Does anyone else think this is a good idea?
