using Moodle version 2.6.4

i can't get a checkbox list of options to appear horizontally.

Following the documentation i use the 'new line' option separator to create a vertical list.  that works fine.

But the Space, Comma or Comma and space separators show a single checkbox with the csv as a string.

is there a specific syntax that i need to use for the options field?

The options should be defined one per line in the Options field. It is the same for all separators.
