Hi,

I know Redhat and Moodle requeriments,  but we need to be sure about our server dimensions.

We have 500 users,  20 courses in a moodle running on a centos or redhat sever,  apache,  mysql,  etc.

What hard disk,  cpu,  ram do you think is necessary?

I have no idea about posible concurrence...

Thanks in advance

If you don't know the maximum number of concurrent users then it's impossible to answer this. However, it's not a lot of users and if you don't have users logging on in big computer clusters a minimal server will do (say 4G, 4 cores, that sort of thing). Beyond the basic minimum, it's entirely up to you how much disk space you need. What materials will you be storing?

"Real" hardware is best. VMs are something of a compromise, especially cheap ones with poor disk performance.

500 users isnt much of users to get a XEON machine.

if you have old Pentium-IV lying around with 2GB RAM, that will be sufficient as well, better off with a dual core CPU (can be even pentium dual core), with 4G Ram, and disc space pretty much depends upon your content, if just text and small audio/video scripts, 320GB will be more than sufficient, if you can, set-up software RAID-1.

Thanks a lot!

we have chosen a redhat, 2 cores, 8G RAM...no video for the moment, so 60 GB of disc.
