Create an event and email participants

Hi, 

I want to create an event, and send email to the participants. What is the best way to go forward?

Under Site Administration > Server > Schedule task, I see an option called `Send calendar notification'. Will this help? 

I am on Moodle 2.8.1.

I'm not quite sure, but it seems to me that your query is unrelated to the Scheduler add-on (which is what this forum is for). Probably what you're using for your events is the Moodle Calendar. In that case, the General Help forum may be the best place for getting an answer.
