Currently there is a hard coded maximum limit of 20 files per submission in assignments. I have proposed moving this to a setting that can be altered if needed. It was requested that I post in this forum to gauge other people's thoughts on the matter. If you think it is a good idea, please vote for the change. Any comments and thoughts would also be appreciated. Thank you for your time.
I just posted this to the tracker:
I just thought that I would comment here, as i feel its relevant (will add to the forum too --> sorry for the duplication). At the University of Cambridge I just (this morning) changed the code to allow 150 files to be uploaded. The business case: A department wanted to use the assignments tool as a drop box style facility. Each student is expected to add two reports a week for 36 weeks, plus lesson plans, schemes of work etc. (they are studying teaching). They dont want multiple assignment instances for each week, month or term. They want the students to be able to drop in and out and edit all the files at any one time. The easiest thing for me to do was to simply up the limit. (150 was actually more than we needed, but I didnt want to have to go back into the code and edit it again)
Was just about to post that I couldn't see a use case for submitting more than 20 files that a zip file submission wouldn't be more appropriate for - and then Mark came up and gave a real world example Thanks Mark, interesting idea and use case for the assignment module that I personally hadn't come across before, but gives some great ideas and potential!
