Hi all,

Is it possible to change the font sign of the equations rendered by the equation editor in Atto?

The default size is bigger than the default text size which doesn't look so great (in my opinion).

Thanks in advance for your help.

Current font size list that works for me using MathJax and the Atto Equation Editor.

\tiny{ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVXYZ} gives this: \( \tiny{ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVXYZ} \)

\scriptsize{ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVXYZ} gives this: \( \scriptsize{ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVXYZ} \)

\small{ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVXYZ} gives this: \( \small{ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVXYZ} \)

\normalsize{ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVXYZ} gives this: \( \normalsize{ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVXYZ} \)

\large{ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVXYZ} gives this: \( \large{ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVXYZ} \)

\Large{ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVXYZ} gives this: \( \Large{ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVXYZ} \)

\LARGE{ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVXYZ} gives this: \( \LARGE{ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVXYZ} \)

\huge{ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVXYZ} gives this: \( \huge{ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVXYZ} \)

\Huge{ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVXYZ} gives this: \( \Huge{ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVXYZ} \)

You can change the default scale of MathJax in mathJax configuration (either in MathJax filter configuration or in Addditional HTML - depending on your version of moodle)

For example add under

MathJax.Hub.Config({

"HTML-CSS": {scale: 95},

to make it a little smaller than default 100 scale. If your site is using SVG output check http://docs.mathjax.org/en/latest/options/SVG.html

You can use old (La)TeX commands to change "font size" like AL suggested but you can in fact use any font size in html around MathJax code to resize it - Mathjax takes font size from surrounding html tags. See demo in http://www.mathjax.org/demos/scaling-math/

The only problem is that Atto does not have font scaling option in editor toolbar. For example

<p><span style="font-size: 500%;">Test 500% \( \alpha \beta \gamma \)</span></p>

gives

Test 500% \( \alpha \beta \gamma \)

Andrew,

Are you using MathJax or the TeX notation filter to render the mathematics? MathJax normally adjusts to the correct text size. The TeX filter produces GIF or PNG images that do not match as closely. If the TeX and Imagemagick binaries are missing on the system, the TeX filter uses an included mimetex binary. Mimetex usually appears much larger than the surrounding TeX.

Belated thanks to all three of you. Much appreciated. Extremely helpful.
