My company recently migrated our Moodle website to a Synology Diskstation server. I've noticed that the installation and file structure seem to be a little different. I can't seem to find the Moodledata folder or where the themes are kept so I can customize the CSS directly. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Ask whoever installed it?
The installation of Moodle on a Synology Diskstation is much like installing an app on an iPhone. It's prepackaged so you just click install and it's done. I watched the guy install it and it never tells you where the MoodleData folder will be saved to.
I know this in no way helps, but for anybody else reading - THIS is why you should install Moodle "manually". Then you know where everything is.
I noticed that the Synology diskstation had a message on upgrade to Moodle 2.7 from the previous 2.4. Happliy clicked on yes. After a screen or two saying software being downloaded it stopped. No messages. But the Moodle was gone! It just brought the dreaded "Can not be found" message of Apache. The (web-based) logs had a message "Upgrade failed" or something similar, but not more.
After some tedious searching I believe that the upgrade script of DSM must have exited at a _warning_ the Moodle upgrade script brought: It complained that PHP module php5_intl is missing. Created a soft link moodle in the DocumenRoot to kick the Moodle upgrade script in the browser and it took me through the usual series of screens and finished the upgrade.
Demonstrates how fragile these one-click things are.
My question: Do people know that there is a forum search facility called "Advanced Search" on "Moodle in English"?
And I don't think the question has anything to do with performance, it belongs to "Installation problems".
Yes, I do know about "Advanced Search." Neither one of those links apply to my situation. I searched for two weeks before I decided to post and have read through both of those links at least three times before. There's no need to be rude.
And I couldn't decide where to post it. The installation worked just fine, the only problem I'm having is the Synology Diskstation itself and how it's Moodle app works.
Anyway the immediate answers is:
- the default $moodledata is /volume1/moodledata
- the default $moodle is /volume1/@appstore/Moodle/moodle
This is a Synology DSM question. You need to go to their site https://www.synology.com/dsm.
