Assignment not reopening until pass after upgrade to 2.7

We had our assignment settings set to reopen until pass for a maximum of two attempts on our Moodle 2.5.5+ (Build 20140314) 2013051405.01. This was working great and reopening the assignment for another submission if the student did not pass the first time. On the odd occasion, due to student error, we would have to revert the submission to draft (which changed the status of the last submission back to draft, rather than reopening for a new attempt). I am under the impression this is how it was all meant to work.

We recently upgraded to Moodle 2.7.2+ (Build: 20140925) and now when an assignment is not passed the first attempt it is not automatically reopening (although the settings for this are correct). If we then revert to draft, it changes the submission to reopened (instead of draft).

Our second issue is, if you click to grade an assessment to see the grading screen, but don't make any changes or save it, and close out. The assignment disappears from the filter for grading (when viewing the assignment table) but when you remove the filter to see all assignments, it does not have a grade recorded or the status of graded. Something is triggering moodle to think it's been graded just because it has been opened. This was not a problem in 2.5.

Even with maximum debug code on, there is no error code displaying to give us any hints for either issue.

Any suggestions on either of these issues - both are causing major issues in the marking office and causing much student confusion and delay in marking.

Thanks!!
