Thanks for the tip... but in reality, ideally this has to be something automatic since the role is applied across a large number of courses. Notifying every individual user with the link to their courses would be quite a laborious task.

I know this is a bit dated, but did you ever find an answer to your question regarding the hidden role and not being able to see the courses under My Moodle home page? I am struggling with this with version 2.6. Not sure if this has been fixed in future releases or not. Assuming this is an actual issue. Maybe this is by design. I have tried googling information on this particular issue and navigating through various moodle support communities without any success. Thanks
This wasn't my initial post, but we are on 2.6 and haven't found a solution. The html block would technically work, but I agree, I would like something more automatic. No luck thus far.
