Hey,

OK. How do I see this eh?

Well, loaded up with constraints.

But, let us unpick it: Bold questions; underlined do-ables and red solution........

To streamline your course page, you only want the students to see the materials for the artist they have chosen for their focus project.Conditional activities allow you to restrict who sees what  -but how can you set this up according to their choice of artist?

1.The obvious option would be to use the Choice module. However, currently it is not possible to set access to different sections or items according to which choice a student makes. You could manually put the students into groups depending on their choice, and restrict access by group, (or use the contributed Group choice plugin)  but what if you can't add plugins, don't need groups and just want the whole process automated?

2.The Using Conditional activities documentation describes how you can set up project selection with forums  at the start of your course. Once a student has posted in one forum - the Monet forum for example, the other forums are no longer available and they only see the teaching materials on Monet. This method involves setting up  more than one activity, however.

3.Another workaround is to use the Moodle quiz, with just one multiple choice question, where the student must select the artist (or whichever project) they wish to focus on:

here is always the question: do we want to restrict the materials like this? NOT REALLY Can the student not simply see all the options on the page, and work through the one they are most interested in? WHY NOT Why cut off some potential learning? YEP-WHY IS THIS AN ISSUE?

Thoughts, that is all
