I'm curious what subdomain other people use for their Moodle server.
... are a few we've considered. Any other ideas?
But in the URL this is shortened to a simple OS
as does Iowa for courses.uiowa.edu
From your list above, I like classes.(myschool).edu
When I suggested alternative names, our college principal and assistant principals were all in agreement:
We should use "Moodle" - it's distinctive and memorable!
In the mid of so many similar elearning packages, at least that way I can help promote Moodle to users.
We've had a few problems with people from another UIUC Moodle wandering into our site by mistake, so Moodle may not be the best choice if there's any chance at all that someone else at your institution will set up a server.
Starting this fall my program will be using:
cterlms.ed.uiuc.edu --- main Moodle site for course delivery for our program.
cterhost.ed.uiuc.edu --- Moodle server for our students to experiment/bang on/break.
The College of Education server (now known as moodleS.ed.uiuc.edu) will take the moodle.ed.uiuc.edu name.
English has a Moodle site, which I don't think has any special name (something like www2.english.uiuc.edu/moodle), as do NCSA (down at the moment) and the Illinois Online guys (not sure what theirs is called).
I've heard rumors of a few other "bootleg" Moodle installations on campus, too.
studyguidePLUS.nl ... for you the activ student and your coach (formerly called "teacher")
..and the homepage of each course gets the name PLANBOARD in the breadcrumbs: stop.. PLAN... do... and reflect
Took longer to work out a name than it did to set up Moodle
StudyguidePLUS, where PLUS stands for PlanYourSelf
cceonline.cpcc.edu (cce = corporate and continuing ed)
I'm pushing for them to have a moodle install that clubs can use for collaboration, that I would hope would be
clubs.cpcc.edu, perhaps with an html page that lists the clubs and points to each club's moodle course, or maybe
orgs.cpcc.edu (since ti's actually more than clubs)
I tend to think that for now students do see the brand... for better or for worse, moodle allows better hiding of the underlying organization, whereas it's pretty hard to get away from BB's branding I think.
A moodle derivation ....
SaBLE = Saint Bedes Learning Environment
though within IT team I am increasingly referring to it as just 'Moodle'
After a bit of head-scratching, we reverted to Moodle or Moodle at Yeovil College (not Moodle @ Yeovil College!), with URL http://moodle.yeovil.ac.uk, since that was what we (students & staff) all called it anyway .
