One of our lecturers needs to be a Manager of a category, and he is also a lecturer in one subject. In this subject he uses the Dialogue tool. However, his Manager role overrides his Teacher role for the Dialogue, in that when a student tries to send him a dialogue message, it says: There is no-one available to send a message to. When he is no longer a Manager of the category it works fine. But this is not ideal as, due to also being the Academic Principal he really need to be able to access all sites in that category, so to be a Manager. He doesn't want to be a Teacher in all the other sites, as he doesn't want to get all assignment and forum alerts from students. In Permissions for this subject, I have removing the Manager for the Dialogue functions, but that still hasn't helped.
I would be very grateful if anyone knows of a way to stop the Manager role overriding the Teacher role, either for one site, or for the Dialogue in the site.
