HTTPS login on and off campus

HTTPS login on and off campus

I'm having a strange issue when enabling Use HTTPS for logins (loginhttps) When this is not enabled I have no problem on campus or off campus logging into the system. However, once I enable this I can still log in fine on campus but off campus the page https://courses.usml.edu/login/index.php will not load. It just times out. I looked in the log, but couldn't find anything that looked significant. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm assuming it has something to do with secure permissions on the webserver, but I'm not sure. Why would a page itself not load when you're not on campus? I'm using Moodle 2.7, and IIS 8.5 on Windows 2012 R2. If anyone has thoughts where I could look for more detail that would be great. Thank you!

Talk to your network team - they might not have allowed HTTPS (a different port) to be accessed on that server from the outside world (i.e. the firewall is getting in the way)

You are right. Sorry for wasting people's time. My networking team did not open up 443 on our external firewall like I asked them to!
