Moodle 2.7 Theme Cache not working?

Moodle 2.7 Theme Cache not working?

We've recently upgraded to Moodle 2.7 and are using the More theme. We've found the load on our Apache web server has increased exponentially since this upgrade. In watching the processes, it seems to be consistently re-loading theme images and theme related files. We have confirmed we do not have theme designer mode enabled.

Is it possible the theme cache is not working by default in Moodle 2.7? Is there a setting that needs to be enabled? Is it possible this is a bug?

Any insights would be helpful. Right now our server is running dangerously close to the failure point.

Thanks!

Janet

Hi Janet,

there might be a few items to be aware of when you are seeing this kind of behaviour.

  • Your theme cache is invalid
  • You have enabled debugging to developer level
  • The file permissions on your moodledata are incorrect.

The solutions for these are:

  • Purge your caches (Settings > Site Administration > Development > Purge all caches), this will rebuild the correct caches
  • Disable full mode debugging
  • Correct file permissions so that apache can read and write to these files

Regards, David
