Activity/Resource icon in the activity/resource view for students

As a tutor when i'm updating a resource i get a nice icon for the activity/resource type :

icon in activity editing

This is useful for tutors as a quick visual reminder of the type of activity.

As a student i just get the title without any icon :

assignment title with no icon

To me this seems inconsistent, and I feel having the icon for the student view would be quite a nice way to enhance the visual appearance of activities/resources - which can be quite dull and enterprise system like.

It may also help reinforce students understand of the icons, and what to expect for each activity/resource type.

Anyone know a way to fix this bug in a theme?

Should have icons by default Stuart, so what is the bug in the theme that's stopping them?

any 404 errors in loading the images etc.? Do they show in the code (in firebug/chrome developer tools), but not displaying properly?

Check against what happens in Clean?

If you enable the Admin setting to allow HTML tags in headings, then you will be able to add a span tag with a class selector that triggers the image when styled using CSS. However this would be far better if coded in Moodle and available as an option when setting up the Activity/Resource.

Perhaps you might like to suggest this as an Improvement?

Thanks as always Mary - i'll take that as  "no this hasn't been done in a theme so far and there isn't an easy way to do it"
