It would help if you explained what "stopped" looked like - blank page, errors, something else?

Hi Howard, it was a blank page...

I guess I can insert the debugging lines in the config.php and see what would happen. I think I did that, but it was still not showing anything. Any ideas? Thanks!

I also encountered similar issue recently. Increasing max_execution_time in php.ini has solved my issue. Not sure whether this will work for you.
