Hi,

I am running moodle 2.7. I have created three forums for the front page (news/events, teacher forum, student forum).

Anyone logged in can add a topic to the news/events forum. Only Admin can add topics to the teacher and student forums) I keep seeing this message 'You do not have permission to add a new discussion topic for all participants.' when I log in as my test user.

I have no groups, coherts or other in this Moodle. I have not selected anything that limits abilities for authenticated user or authenticated front page user.

Do you have any ideas of how I can give all users permission to add topics to all forums on the front page?

Hi Bonnie,

Can you just check in the forum settings under 'Common module settings' that the group mode hasn't been set accidentally to separate or visible groups.

Hi, Bonnie,

Have you checked the permissions for the forums? In the settings block, there is a "Permissions" link. That will take you to a page that will show you each role in the system along with its permissions. Pay particular attention to the "Start New Discussions" permission. Use the Crtl + F keyboard function to do a search for "discussions" in order to find it faster.

Let me know if that works.
