External Database Authentication No Longer Sending Emails

I have used an external database for authentication joining courses and  for over  year without issue. Recently it stopped sending emails to new users with login information and we have to manually reset the password and send it by hand. The moodle email system works and we can message the person and once logged in the person can reset the email address and get the confirmation email that the settings require.


It is strange that email works everywhere else in the system and the external database still creates the accounts and signs users up for the course they purchased, but the only thing not happening is the automatic email that always worked before.


Is there anyone who can help figure this out?
