I know, I have to be patient, but as I want to make an upgrade asap to be ready for the new schoolyear, I would like to know which is the best choice for the future ?
(Until now I used DMS on 1.4. - and I found it a good option because it offers the students a clear and goodlooking directory structure of their files.)
But I was pleasantly surprised by what your faculty site showed and offered.
Nice side effect: your example and contribution blow away a number of the arguments my colleagues from our partner schools keep dishing up to stress the superiority of Blackboard and the like.
I see that the cvs file block_shared_files has a new date of 30th June. I've just tried it in Moodle 1.5.2 but it still doesn't work, well not for me, it came up under the section of incompatible blocks. Is it still being persued by anyone? I'm still trying to get to grips with php skills - and I'm really slow!
Since I am new moodle-user I am very interested in the development of this feature (the MyFiles option). How does an upgrade of moodle work?
1. Should I actively install this update/patch? What is the risk of losing other information on our Moodle-pages.
2. Are these updates uploaded on a regular basis and should the option be available all of a sudden?
3. How and where can I check the progress of these improvements?

The documents of a student have to be assigned to some categories ( teacher, term, event....) and the student can also define what kind of document he is handling.
Take a look at it (there's no demo but installing is very easy, if you understand a little bit of german) !
Is this something worth implementing in Moodle ?
