You can upload Moodle to your own web server if it can support:
PHP
and you have a
MySQL database account
PostgreSQL can also work.
There are many providers that have these features as default. Some even
have Moodle on a Fantastico setup that is quite seamless to set up.
However, if you are going to have heavy usage of your site (mulitmedia presentations, heavy chat, graphics, etc.), you might
experience problems as some providers limit the amount of usage you can
use. At that point, you might look at other dedicated installation
options.
